Sherwood Forest Faire

A couple of our best ideas lately have come from answering the question, "I don't know, what do you want to do today?" A few weekends back it was a last minute trip to the San Antonio Zoo. This Sunday it was to the Sherwood Forest Faire. It was one of those Rennaissance Festivals where people dress up and talk and act like they are from Medieval times. I've never been to one and it was 2 for 1 day. So we went.

Lily did great and seemed entertained by everything that was going on . She even napped for an hour on the way there and in the carrier for another hour while we were walking around. Sadly there are no pictures of her since she was in the carrier while I took most of these.

We saw a falcon show (with a trained vulture and an owl too!), a jousting competition and a knife juggling act. Wade also got to try out a bow and arrow, ride a pony and go for a ride on this really large swing. It was such a fun day, but we kind of attacked it wrong. We headed away from the kids area and only passed through there at the end... Oops! But we will definitely go back now that we know the lay of the land. Maybe we'll even dress up ;)

Swinging really high!

Whoa!

A little closer to Dad this time.

Mardi Gras!

They brought back the Sun City Mardi Gras parade this year. It's a fun little parade through a street in Sun City, complete with the citizens decorating and driving golf carts, handing out beads and candy, and of  course, throwing jello shots :) They really know how to party in Sun City! The girls rode on a float this year and Wade watched and collected about a million bead necklaces. After all of that, we went back and enjoyed lunch and cake at the beautiful house Aunt Jay and Uncle Pat are staying at. It's always such a fun time!

I think Wade won the bead-collecting contest!

Baba and Sister

The weather has been really nice these past few days, so we've spent quite a bit of time outside. Which is challenging, because Lily wants to eat everything she sees, like leaves. And rocks. And bugs. So I have to confine her to a swing or gate her in on the (swept clean) front porch. Which is fine as long as Wade is with her.

These two are like two peas in a pod. When she's looking at Wade, he complains. But, when she's not looking at him, he does everything he can to get her attention. She makes noises and faces to get his attention and when he laughs, so does she and she makes the noise again. They do this over and over.  And usually in the middle of dinner. So we end up eating for like an hour and a half. But I guess as long as everyone is happy...  I can leave them alone together to play for periods of time now. Usually, Wade will drag out all her board books (actually they're his old ones) and read to her. Or he'll find some toys of his that she can play with to keep her entertained and nearby. It's pretty cute.

Swinging!

Not the best picture, but it shows the interesting blue/grey/brown color of her eyes right now :)

This is what happens when I leave them alone together. Wade takes such good care of his little sister :)
