Bueno Vista

We took an impromptu trip out Bueno Vista to see the town one weekend. We had heard it was pretty cool, and weren't disappointed. We walked along the river, climbed some rocks, had some snacks at Eddyline brewery and ate at a local pizza place. We had a great time and are planning a longer (actually planned in advance) trip back soon.

On the way, we passed a herd of antelope

Strange outdoor concrete and tile living room

Watching the fish come up to the surface

It was a really pretty area. You could walk all along the river.

The kids got a chance to do plenty of climbing

And there was a little play area with more rocks to climb

Of course Wade made it all the way to the top

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Our first trip to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo was fantastic. The giraffe feeding area makes it all worth it! Not to mention it was a beautifully set up zoo winding up and down the side of a mountain. We had a great day, and I got to spend time with an old friend from college, Jocelyn, who happened to be in town visiting her sister. We will definitely be back- with Wade!

Jayden (Jocelyn's nephew) and Lily got along pretty well,

Doing some thinking
The reptile house was very unusual and was set up sort of like an art museum.
Here the turtles were in a small pool near a concrete living room- complete with a couch and recliner...

TX trip 2015

**WARNING- SUPER LONG POST WITH LOTS OF PICTURES**

We were lucky enough to be able to come back to TX for Christen & Tim's wedding over spring break this year. Wade only missed 1 day of school, and we even found fantastic deals on flights and were able to escape driving- YAY!!. We have missed everyone being nearby and it was great to be able to spend some time together again.

AIRPLANE RIDE:
Woohoo! We're going on an airplane!!

We woke the kids up at 3:30 in the morning, drove an hour and a half to the Denver airport and they never fell asleep!
You can sort of see it on Wade's face here...

Busy working on the airplane

LEGO STORE PLAYDATE:
Right away, the kids and I got together with Katie & Jack & Ford. We went to Barton Creek to visit our very first Lego Store, got some Chick-fil-a (which we have in CO, but not nearby) and made our first Build-A-Bear. The kids were so excited to see each other, and quickly fell back into their old best-friend relationships, like no time had passed at all.

WEDDING:
Then we headed out to Fredericksburg to begin the big wedding weekend!

ZILKER FAERIE GARDEN:
After we concluded the wedding weekend, we got together with Katie and the kids again. We wanted to go to the Zilker Faerie Garden last summer, but planned it too late in the year and it was already closed. I'm so glad we went this year, it was awesome! And, of course, the kids loved hanging out with each other again.

All wound up and ready to go!

Some of the houses were very intricate and beautiful

This one was hanging from a branch

Finally found the Palmers in the maze of faerie houses!

Funny how they paired off this time...

Ask for a nice photo and this is what we get. Typical goofballs

Right before they all fell into the coy pond. KIDDING! Although it was not outside the realm of possibilities.

Smile boys!

I will NOT sit by them.

Wade wanted his picture taken by this one at the entrance for some reason!

GEOCASHING:
No trip would be complete without some geocashing! Wade wasn't feeling 100%, but toughed it out for a short afternoon excursion with Umma, Aunt Jay & Uncle Pat.

BOWLING:
The kids got their first taste of bowling one afternoon. We went to the lanes in Georgetown with Umma, Aunt Jay, Great-Grandma, Aunt Shelly and Thomas and had a blast!

Lily, watching her ball all the way to the end
Wade made a very valiant effort to bowl without the ramp.
He ended up using it towards the end, I think his arms may have gotten a bit tired!
Thomas did a great job bowling- if I remember right, he won!

We TRIED to get a nice group shot...
This is the best one, I think

Then, things got a little out of hand

After bowling, we pretended to play on the arcade games
And found a quick geocache outside of the bowling alley

COUSIN TIME:
The kids and I went over to Aunt Shelly's new house and the cousins got to play together for a bit. This was all scheduled by Wade, because he had decided that it was going to be his wedding day. He was marrying Annabelle and even gave her a ring! She agreed, so they decorated the house and went forward with Wade's plans. The schedule included nature time, reading/quiet time, a snack and the actual wedding where he kissed his bride(!) Thomas was there too, but I didn't get any pictures of him this time- he was way too busy working outside to stop for a picture!

During nature time- inspecting a roly-poly
Also during nature time- coloring on the driveway

Haley & Lily snuck away during quiet time to play dress up

UMMA & PAPA'S HOUSE:
Wade got sick for about a day and a half, and we spent some down time at Umma's house. It was even nice enough while we were there to be outside in our bathing suits!

This is how you can tell he's sick, when he naps during the day. Poor kid.
Still not feeling 100%, but well enough to have a popsicle

 PARK:
One last playdate at the park...
Lily's staying out of this group hug
Running...
...and running some more
Walking to the park and practicing some ninja moves on the way
Swinging with the littles
More ninja moves
Not to be outdone, the littles had some moves too

Lily and Jack paired up again

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this picture
One last group photo before we head home- love these crazy kids!!

Goodbye, Texas! Until next time...
