Paleo

Mark and I have been Paleo-ing it for awhile now. Well, I think it is actually called Primal since we kept the dairy portion in. We have cut out all grains and starches and I really don't miss much. Especially since I feel a ton healthier and know I am not eating a lot of the processed stuff that I have been wanting to cut out for a while now. Not to mention that I am back to pre-baby (Wade) weight.

However, I must say that I despise a few things about the Paleo diet (lifestyle, ok Dad?)
1. Breakfast- eggs, eggs, and more eggs. I have never eaten as many eggs as I have since we began
2. Salads- see above, only substitute the word "salad" for "eggs"
3. Nuts- see above above, only substitute the word "nuts" for "eggs"
4. Sweets- there are none

Now that that is out of the way, the food is actually good and I don't crave any of the pasta or potatoes or breads like I thought I might. Mark, however, is pretty sure that each week we will starve and is very surprised on Monday that we have made it through the weekend.

Eggs for breakfast. What else

"Bread" made with eggs. Of course

Egg "bread" makes a good Egg McMuffin

Wade's got jokes

At least, he thinks he does :) He tries to come up with jokes on his own, but 99.9% of the time, they don't make sense. "Mom, I think you have a shirt in your ear. Hahahahaha!" There are others in actual joke format (what do you call a....) but they are so completely random, I don't remember them!

We are also still into science experiments. We have made BUCKETS of slime, our own bouncy balls (fail), more "queasy bake" cakes, our own play dough (super cool) BOAT LOADS of oobleck, and an ant farm (killed the ant colony by accident) recently.

Into the oven

Mmmm cake

And then there was this...

Wade has been trying his hardest to sleep in his own room, in his own bed. ALL. NIGHT. LONG. He did well for two weeks, earned himself 14 stickers and two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Then something happened and we found him waking us up multiple times a night. He was hungry, thirsty, needed a hug, was tired (what?), wanted to be tucked in, had a nightmare, etc., etc., etc. He was not allowed to sleep back in our room, but was more than welcome to bunk in the office on the futon. Which he did a handful of times. I think we may be back on track now (fingers crossed), but this has been/is a loooong process. I keep telling myself that he won't be in high school sleeping on the floor in our bedroom. I hope.

I think Wade would live outside if he could. His sandbox, the kiddie pool, his dump trucks, the dogs and any random garden tool or pile of dirt are his favorite things to play with :)

He has been earning a few extra coins by watering Umma's plants while they are on vacation. Sometimes (every single time) he gets his shorts soaking wet and had to finish the job in his undies :)

New haircut! He was very opinionated this time and wanted his hair, "short like Daddy's." I said he could have it short, just not that short :)

Every time we go to the frozen yogurt place he licks the bowl clean. Yes we do feed him!

We pulled out all the stops for the 4th rainy day in a row. We stomped in puddles, painted, had indoor balloon rocket races and then Wade decided he wanted to make a spider web with yarn and tape. We all survived. Although I love the rain, I am hoping it comes to an end soon. We need to get out of the house!

And Lily's got words

A few anyway. She can definitely say "baby," "mama," "dada," "ball" and "baba (for brother)." She tries pretty much anything else that you ask her to, or anything she points to and wants to know what it is. She can also sign "more," "please" and "food." She tries "thirsty" and "thank you," but sometimes they're a little off :)

Little girl has been a little crabby lately, but I attribute that to the remaining 2 teeth that she's getting in. She will have 16! And after these last couple, I think she'll be good until her 2 year molars come in!
Bath time!
We've been doing quite a bit of playing outside lately, since the temps haven't been too hot! Lily especially loves the kiddie pool, sandbox and playhouse. Even better when you're partially or completely naked :)

These last 4 days, it has done nothing but rain! It has been great for cooler temperatures, but not fantastic for getting out of the house. Today, we finally decided that enough was enough and went out to splash in the puddles. Both kids had a blast :)

Lily had her first experience painting today. She didn't mind getting it on her hands too much and actually made a couple pretty pictures. However, as soon as she noticed that her belly was dirty, she was DONE.

This little girl is a goofball. She loves to put on shoes and dress up already. For a couple days, she would only put on her pink cowboy boots. I must admit, they are cute :)

She is also super flexible. After snack time today, she put her foot in her mouth and bit it. Then she cried because her toe hurt. Silly girl.
