Mother's Day

At Wade's preschool, they did a little gathering with punch and cookies for the kids and moms. Wade presented me with a hand-painted flower pot and a bunch of questions he had answered about me to the best of his knowledge -ie the best thing my mom does is order pizza :) It was really cute and one of the first times he has made something for me on Mother's Day!

Easter

A little out of order here. How it actually happened:

1. Easter
2. Nene's visit
3. Lily's birthday.

Not that it matters, but if you have a personality like mine than you had to acknowledge the error of your ways. Otherwise, you would have to take down and re-do the two blogs that were done out of order.

Phew.

On to Easter...

Easter was low-key this year. We got up and went to church, where I tried, pretty unsuccessfully to get a nice family (minus me) picture. Then, we came home and Mark took the kids to the gas station to get a newspaper that we "forgot" while Mommy went inside to go poop. Thanks, Daddy. Actually, Mommy hid the Easter baskets in the house, and hid the eggs outside. Then it started to rain, so I gathered them all up again and hid them inside. But I realized it was just a quick sprinkle and started to hide them outside again when everyone got home (you see what kind of person you're dealing with here?). It made for a nice, some outside, some inside egg hunt. Lily had a blast finding, opening, eating, and putting back empty eggs. Wade kept finding her color (I may or may not have color-coded their eggs) and kept getting disappointed that they were empty. She, on the other hand, was on a sugar high. Later, we went to Greg & Shelly's for Easter lunch and to let the kids play, then back home again to recuperate from our low-key day :)

Nene's visit!

Nene came to visit this year for Lily's birthday. I always love when she comes because the kids have such a fantastic time with her. They played, cuddled, chatted and, of course, Wade had a whole new audience to entertain with his fabulous stories and plans :) I really didn't take a whole lot of pictures this time around, but here are a few that I did manage to get.

Lily's 2nd Birthday Paw-ty!

It went off without a hitch. ALL of the kids came when I asked and sat in circle, waiting to choose their new puppy to adopt. Which they did without fighting. They named them, groomed them, gave them puppy check-ups and played with them to their little heart's content. I heard from more than one mom that the kids kept up the cuddling and loving on their puppies long after they got home. I know my kids still love those darn things :) We ate hot dogs, puppy chow, dog bone graham crackers, and fruit, veggies, and chips served in dog bowls. And of course, puppy-decorated cupcakes. Simple, yet unique and totally Lily!

She was the belle of the ball and enjoyed every minute of her party. From adopting her puppy, to snacking away her lunch and playing outside with her cousins and friends; from hearing everyone sing Happy Birthday to her, to opening her presents and exclaiming over each and every gift. Happy 2nd birthday, sweet girl!
