Day 1: We started off Farm Week just focusing on the whole idea of a farm (just the animals part of it, not the farming/gardening of machines/vehicles). The following days were all about a specific farm animal
Story- The Big Red Barn
Art- Painting and putting together the silo
Game- Lego matching- tops of farm animals to bottoms
Snack- Graham cracker, frosting and pretzel farm
Math & Hand/Eye- "Do-A-Dot" sheet
| So we painted an oatmeal canister... |
| ...and a paper plate to make a barn/silo. I hot glued them together while Lily took a nap, but that was pretty much it. I thought she'd play with it with her Little People farm animals. Nope. Not interested. |
| Matching up farm animal pictures on Lego blocks |

| Then lining them all up |
| Trying out a "Do-A-Dot" sheet. However, our bingo markers didn't work, so I cut out a small circle sponge and we used paint instead. She wasn't a big fan of this, although she could figure out what all the answers were. Then she got a little distracted and wanted to paint all the tractors... |
| Farm snack! |
Day 2: Today was all about hens and chicks. It was a shorter day, because we had MOPS, but we actually got a lot done!
Story- Cheep! Cheep! & 3 Hens and a Peacock
Art- Hens and chicks- gluing & feathers
Snack- Easter egg chick lunch
Game- Folder matching game
Math & Hand/Eye- "Do-A-Dot"sheet
| Mama hen and her baby chicks |
| Hiding the baby chicks under Mama hen's wing |
| Chicks in a nest for lunch |
| Matching the front ends to the back ends. Or the heads to the butts |

| While Wade was doing his homework, Lily was doing her work too |
| Circle stickers can also be used on Do-A-Dot sheets. She liked this a whole lot better than the paint |
Day 3: Sheep! This was another short day since we went to the library for story time.
Story- Sheep in a Jeep (we didn't have this one yet, so we watched it on YouTube) & Baa Baa Black Sheep nursery rhyme with sheep puppet
Art- Sheep bubble painting
Snack- Sheep cupcakes
Math & Hand/Eye- Do-A-Dot sheet
| Blowing paint bubbles |
| Big bubbles! So pretty |
| We pressed the paper onto the bubbles (multiple times) to make these prints |
| Then cut out a sheep body shape and added features |
| See? So cute! |
| Fine, Mom. I'll show you the sheep cupcake I made. |
| Mmmm, frosting! |
| Baa baaa! |
| Enjoying our cute, fluffy, little treats! |
| More stickers! |
Day 4: Horses!
Story- I didn't really have a good horse story, so we re-read the Big Red Barn and added the Jolly Barnyard. Both of these stories have horses in them although they don't focus on them solely.
Art- Horse footprint art with yarn mane
Sensory- Clean-a-horse station
Snack- Haystacks
| Adding glue to make our footprint horse |
| Footprint horse! |
| Getting ready to scrub off this dirty horse (I had previously painted him with brown paint and rolled him in oatmeal)! |
| She was telling me all about the horse the whole time |
| Scrubbing him thoroughly (she lost her shirt, so she wouldn't get dirty too) |
| Wrapping him all up |
| Oops, missed a spot |
| All tucked in because, he's "a little bit sleepy." |
| Haystack snacks. Because horses eat hay. Lily was not a fan. Can't fool this girl- she doesn't like pretzels, even if they are covered in sugar. |
Day 5: Piggies! I was pretty sure this was going to be my favorite day...
Story- How Big is a Pig?
Art- Muddy pig marble painting with yarn hay
Snack- Eggo pig breakfast & muddy animals pudding
Movie! Barnyard (I'd never heard of this one before, but I think it was a Pixar film. Pretty cute, the kids liked it, but not my favorite)
| We started off the day with a little piggy breakfast! |
| Making a muddy pig painting with a marble and brown paint |
| Muddy pig! |
| Adding hay to make the background |
| Finished product |
| Making pudding for our "muddy animals" pudding cups to eat during the movie later |
