Princess week

Princess week! I was so excited about doing this theme, I just knew Lily would love it. I planned to incorporate jewels, crowns, princesses (obviously), pink and all things girly. She had a really good time with it and Wade even enjoyed himself when he got a chance to do the activities with us.

Day 1: Today Wade had a snow day, so we just did a few activities and then played in the snow for the rest of the day!
Book- Princess Pigsty
Art- Decorating a princess (or prince) crown
Snack- Princess popcorn
Game- Princess memory (didn't get any pictures of them playing this)

Wade was very serious about decorating his crown

I was going to make this into an actual crown to wear, but there was really no bending this one when it dried!

This was soooo good! I melted white chocolate chips, added purple food coloring and drizzled it over popcorn. Then I sprinkled on some candy hearts. YUM

Day 2: This day was probably the most fun!
Books- Princess and the Pea, Princess and the Peas & Carrots
Art- Fabric strip mattresses with pom pom pea
Sensory- Rice bin
Snack- Candy "peas" & crown shaped cinnamon sugar toast
Game- Where's the pea?

Gluing on fabric strips to represent the many mattresses the princess slept on

Coloring her princess

Lily's Princess and the Pea picture

Princess rice bin. THIS. WAS. AWESOME.

Adding in some flower and heart shaped buttons

Little People babies and princesses came to play in the rice

Adding some fabric flowers and jewels

Snack time!

This was a fun game. It is supposed to look like the many mattresses that the princess slept on... I would hide (color) a pea on the chalk board and Lily would have to guess which number or color it was under. We played this over and over. Then when Wade came home, we did it with sight words for his homework!

Day 3:
Books- The Princess and the Pig, 26 Princesses
Art- Princess hat
Sensory- Orange and pink homemade playdough w/Little People
Snack- Castle shaped lunch
Math- Making a castle out of shapes
Movie- Veggie Tales- The Penniless Princess
We decorated a princess hat, like the one the pig wore in our story, with tissue paper, jewels and sparkly flowers.

I made this play dough over the weekend and she was so excited to play with it. She picked the colors- orange and pink. With glitter, of course!

Castle sandwich for lunch!
Making a castle out of shapes. I had already traced them on a piece of paper for her, so she just had to match them up. Wade did this with us too, but I just gave him the shapes to create a castle on his own.

Day 4: What is a princess week without dragons?! We did go to the library story time in the morning and ran some errands, so we had a short day.
Book- Lovaby Dragon, The End
Art- Toliet paper roll firebreathing dragon
Math- Jewel patterns

We painted the tp roll to begin our dragon

Ahhh! A firebreathing dragon!

With Lily, I kept her patterns very simple. She didn't really understand what to do, but I figure it was a good concept to introduce to her.
Wade is super good at patterns, so his were pretty complicated.

Day 5: The last day is usually what I base my week on. Movie day!
Books- Cinderella, Princesses on the Run
Art- Wands
Snack- Wand shaped rice crispy treats
Math- Do-A-Dot princesses
Movie- Cinderella
While Wade did his homework, Lily did a couple Do-A-Dot princess sheets

The kids decorated both sides to their wands and we left them to dry
After they were dry, I attached them to a stick (I am treading on dangerous ground, I know) and tied some ribbons onto them. They turned out really cute, but I didn't get any pictures.

Rice crispy wands decorated with candy pearls and blue sugar to enjoy during the movie. We had 2 friends over, so this worked out great for everyone to have a treat and watch the movie with us.
