Dinosaur week!

I thought princess week was going to be impossible to beat. But apparently, I just have to let things get a little messy and bring out the dinos. If it was possible, Lily loved dinosaur week even more than anything else we have done!

Day 1- We started out strong this week and added a few more things to today. She was having so much fun!

Story: Dinosaur Shapes
Art: Create a dino out of shapes
Sensory: Felt board & 10 Little Dinos song
Math: Magnetic shape matching
Snack: Dinosaur toast
**extra: Memory game
**extra: Growing dinosaurs in water
**extra: Dinosaur water bin
Dinosaur and volcano toast. Couldn't you tell that was a volcano?!

Matching the shape magnets to their dinosaurs.

I will show you what I did, but I will NOT look at you.

They started out really small...

Then we added them to water an they grew big. Well, bigger. Verrryyy slooowwwllly. By the end of the week, they were twice their size and everyone had forgotten about them.

Dinosaur bath!

She loves playing with critters in the water

Dinosaur matching game.

Making her own dinosaur creation out of common shapes.

Although she likes gluing, this was not her favorite activity by any means.

Felt board dinos. We sang a little dino song to go with it. Very fun.

They had to all go by their friends, of course.
 Day 2-
Story: Curious George goes to the Museum & Paleontologist book
Sensory: "Dirt" bin with salt dough bones
Math: Ordering salt dough bones
Snack: Sand/fossil pudding cups
Dirt dough. This was very cool play with, but it stained your hands.

I had made salt dough bones to hide in the "dirt." She had a great time digging, discovering, cleaning off and putting her dinosaur bones in order.

Digging in the "dirt."

Putting her bones in order. She did this all by herself. I was impressed.

Explaining something to me

Fossil dessert cups. Wade really liked this. Lily took one taste and decided to pass. She's not a fan of all the different textures mixed together.

Day 3-
Story: Dinosaur! Dinosaur! & Dinosaur babies book & Dinosaur!
Art: Hatching dino egg picture (coloring)
Sensory: Fizzy hatching dinosaur eggs
Math: Match dinosaur to it's similar colored egg sheet (no pictures of this)
Snack: Rice crispy treat (w/Oreos) dino eggs

The egg is hatching!

Look! A baby dinosaur! She's apparently not amused...

Fizzy dinosaur eggs. This was another one that stained your hands, but both kids had a blast helping the baby dinosaurs "hatch."

You can see, the water got pretty black...

... so we gave the dinosaurs a bath!

Rice crispy treat (with Oreos) dinosaur eggs
 Day 4-
Story: Saturday Night at the Dino Stomp & Dino Dance
Snack & Math: Dinosaur gummy counting cards
**extra: Scavenger hunt for dinosaurs inside Easter Eggs (no pictures of this one either)
Counting with dinosaur gummy treats

 Day 5-
Story: Dear Tyrannosaurus Rex & How Do Dinosaurs Go to School & I'm Bad
Sensory: Dinos in "mud" playdough
Snack: Dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets for dinner!
MOVIE DAY!! The Land Before Time
We used the chocolate playdough we made for Valentines week for mud. Lily built a road.

Wade made footprints

And a "set up." He's big into setting up displays lately.

Lily made a dinosaur nest.

Then she added some plates to this dinosaur, as apparently he was lacking them.

Finished product
I had lots of other activities planned for this week, but we just didn't get to them all... Oh well, it will give me an excuse to have another dinosaur themed week!
