Halloween!

It's the time of year when the Texas heat is beginning to subside a bit and it starts to feel like autumn. The leaves are starting to fall, even though jack o'lanterns may be melting away on front porches. Families flock to pumpkin patches or even just to HEB to take pictures in the heaps and piles of pumpkins. Kids dress up like Elsa or in weird, full bodysuits and head out to festivals, neighborhood parties, church parking lots or around the block for trick or treating. I absolutely love Halloween, and this time of year is definitely the most beautiful in Texas. Except for maybe when the bluebonnets are blooming-but I have a serious love/hate relationship with that season.

This year was no disappointment, as we had a cold front come through just in time to make it pleasantly chilly on Halloween night. Dressed in our camouflage, tutu, and kitty cat ears, we headed to the fall festival in Georgetown, where we enjoyed some hotdogs, played on a few blow-up things and went "trick or treating" inside the church. After that, we stopped over at Mary & Dave's house and Mark took the kids down their street for a little taste of real trick or treating. They were content after that to have a few treats, hand out candy, and play with their cousins, who joined us later.

Happy Halloween everyone!
